Non-Common and Well Documented Alleles
With the publication of Common and well-documented HLA alleles: 2012 update to the CWD catalogue, S. J. Mack, et al, Tissue Antigens. 2013 Apr; 81(4):194-203 (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23510415), the NMDP will no longer maintain a tally of rare alleles found in the Be The Match Registry®. The CWD manuscript contains a list of alleles considered common and/or well documented in the worldwide population. Alleles not included in the CWD manuscript are listed for reference. This list will be updated on a biannual basis. Alleles listed retain their link to the IMGT/HLA database (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/ipd/imgt/hla/allele.html) 1where further information on the allele and its ethnic origin (if known) can be obtained.
